Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai (2020)

“Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai” shows the adventures of young Dai, who has always dreamed of becoming a hero. He lives in peace on a remote island with a wide variety of monsters; one of them – his foster grandfather, the monster mage Brass – raised him there. However, this peace did not always prevail, for the dark demon Hadlar once spread fear and terror throughout the world until a heroic swordsman put an end to him some 15 years ago.

Dai’s peace has come to an end for quite different reasons: not only does a horde of adventurers harass his monster friend Gome, but Leona, the princess of the Kingdom of Papnica, also appears to be protected by Dai during an important ritual – a matter that grows into a real conspiracy.

It is not long before the hero trainer Avan hears of Dai’s deeds, appears on the island and begins to train him. There is a reason for this: Hadlar has by no means found a permanent end and is once again out for trouble – worse still, he is merely a subordinate of the dark King Vearn, who has resurrected Hadlar. Dai’s wish to become a hero might come true sooner than expected …

»Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai« zeigt die Abenteuer des jungen Dai, der immer davon geträumt hat, ein Held zu werden. Er lebt in Frieden auf einer abgelegenen Insel mit verschiedensten Monstern; eines davon – sein Ziehgroßvater, der Monster-Magier Brass – hat ihn dort aufgezogen. Dieser Frieden herrschte jedoch nicht immer, denn einst verbreitete der finstere Dämon Hadlar Angst und Schrecken auf der Welt – bis ihm vor etwa 15 Jahren ein heldenhafter Schwertkämpfer ein Ende bereitete.

Mit Dais Frieden ist es zunächst aus ganz anderen Gründen vorbei: Nicht nur, dass eine Horde Abenteurer seinem Monsterfreund Gome zusetzt, es erscheint auch Leona, die Prinzessin des Königreichs Papnica, um von Dai bei einem wichtigen Ritual beschützt zu werden – eine Angelegenheit, die sich zu einer waschechten Verschwörung auswächst.

Es dauert nicht lange, bis der Heldentrainer Avan von Dais Taten hört, auf der Insel erscheint und damit beginnt, ihn auszubilden. Das hat auch seinen Grund: Hadlar hat keineswegs ein permanentes Ende gefunden und ist erneut auf Ärger aus – schlimmer noch: Er ist lediglich ein Untergebener vom dunklen König Vearn, der Hadlar wiederbelebt hat. Dais Wunsch, ein Held zu werden, könnte sich schneller erfüllen als erwartet …

«Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai» mostra le avventure del giovane Dai che sa sempre sogna diventare un eroe. Vive in pace su un’isola fuori mano con diversi mostri, tra cui il nonno adottivo, il mago mostro Brass. Questa pace, però, non vige da sempre. Nei tempi andati il demone lugubre Hadler diffondeva il terrore nel mondo, fino a che, 15 anni fa, un eroico spadaccino lo ha sconfitto.

La pace intorno a Dai, invece, ha una fine per ragioni completamente diversi quando un’orda di avventurieri fanno la caccia al suo amico mostro Gome. Appare, inoltre, la principessa Leona del regno di Papunica che vuole essere protetta da Dai da un importante rituale – evento che sembra voluto a trasformarsi in una vera e propria congiura.

Non dura a lungo che appare sull’isola anche l’allenatore di eroi Avan, recato lì per addestrare Dai dope aver sentito parlare delle sue azioni. E non sensa ragione: Hadler non è sparito del tutto e di nuovo in cerca di combinare guai, anzi, peggio – è stato il re delle tenebre Vearn ha risuscitarlo, del quale è ora subordinato. Il desiderio di Dai di diventare un eroe, quindi, potrebbe avverarsi prima del previsto.
