Description

Midori is a twelve-year-old flower seller in late 1920s Tokyo. Completely alone and penniless due to the death of her mother, she joins a travelling dubious group of showmen who entertain their audience with a classic freak show. In the midst of obscure cripples and bizarre fetishists, she ekes out a hopeless existence marked by beatings, rape and slave labour. Only when the diminutive magician Masamitsu joins the troupe things seem to take a turn for the better for Midori …

Midori ist eine zwölfjährige Blumenverkäuferin im Tokio der späten zwanziger Jahre. Durch den Tod der Mutter völlig allein und mittellos, schließt sie sich einer reisenden zwielichtigen Schaustellergruppe an, die ihr Publikum mit einer klassischen Freakshow unterhalten. Inmitten obskurer Krüppel und bizarrer Fetischisten fristet sie nun ein hoffnungsloses Dasein, welches geprägt ist von Schlägen, Vergewaltigungen und Sklavenarbeit. Erst als sich der kleinwüchsige Magier Masamitsu der Truppe anschließt, scheinen sich die Dinge für Midori zum Guten zu wenden …
