Description

The Animatrix” is a series of short films conceived by Andy and Larry Wachowski, the minds behind the “Matrix” trilogy.

Episode 1: “The Last Flight of Osiris”
Because the Machines are planning a major attack on Zion, the last refuge of mankind, it is in the hands of the crew of the spaceship Zion to deliver a message in time. However, the machines get wind of the plan, so Zion is involved in a merciless attack.

Episode 2: “The Second Renaissance Part I”
At the beginning of the 21st century, humanity was ready to build intelligent machines to use as workers or servants, for example. But when, after a long and incident-free period of time, a machine kills its owner out of supposed self-defence, this leads to a full-blown conflict between man and machine, which ultimately also leads to the founding of the Nation 01 – the Nation of Machines.

Episode 3: “The Second Renaissance Part II”.
Three years after Nation 01 is denied entry into the United Nations, the humans decide to do something about the latent threat and destroy all the walking tin. Soon this turns into a massive and decades-long war, with both sides suffering immense casualties. But despite all measures, the endless hordes of machines seem to be invincible …

Episode 4: “Kid’s Story”
The boy Michael, mostly called “Kid”, prefers dreaming more than being awake. Soon meets resistance leader Neo, who warns him about approaching Agents. Because it saw in a dream, Kid throws himself from the school roof, but the result does not necessarily meet expectations.

Episode 5: “Program”
Cis and her friend Duo are in a training simulation when the latter suddenly demands that she accompany him into the Matrix. Because Cis refuses and Duo insists, the energetic discussion soon degenerates.

Episode 6: “World Record”
Dan is a remarkable sprinter whose last world record was unfortunately not recognized. When he starts another official attempt, he is so fast that the Agents intervene. In the end, Dan has to pay a cruel price for his unexpected resistance.

Episode 7: “Beyond”
The girl Youko misses her runaway cat, Yuki. Neighbourhood boys take her to the so-called “haunted house”, where there are quite a few flaws in the matrix – flaws, causing wonder and amazement among the boys and Youko. But the Agents are also already on their way …

Episode 8: “A Detective Story”
Ash is a private detective and has landed a real big fish, after all, he will receive a lavish 800,000 dollars if he tracks down the infamous hacker Trinity. However, others have tried this before him, but they all suffered unpleasant fates. Ash’s meeting with the hacker also goes anything but according to plan.

Episode 9: “Matriculated”
On the surface, some rebels have captured a drone of the machines and are now trying to reprogram it. The drone is attracted to Alexa and therefore fights on the side of the rebels when they come under fire from more drones.

Episode 1: »Der Letzte Flug der Osiris«
Weil die Maschinen einen Großangriff auf Zion, den letzten Zufluchtsort der Menschheit, planen, liegt es in den Händen der Crew des Raumschiffs Zion, rechtzeitig eine Nachricht zu überbringen. Allerdings bekommen die Maschinen vom Vorhaben Wind, sodass die Zion in einen erbarmungslosen Angriff verwickelt wird.

Episode 2: »The Second Renaissance Part I«
Zu Beginn des 21. Jahrhunderts war die Menschheit so weit, sich intelligente Maschinen zu bauen, um diese beispielsweise als Arbeiter oder Bedienstete zu nutzen. Doch als nach langer und vorfallsfreier Zeit eine Maschine seine Besitzer aus vermeintlicher Notwehr tötet, führt das zu einem ausgewachsenen Konflikt zwischen Mensch und Maschine, der letztendlich auch zur Gründung der Nation 01 führt – der Nation der Maschinen.

Episode 3: »The Second Renaissance Part II«
Drei Jahren nachdem der Nation 01 der Beitritt zu den Vereinten Nation verwehrt worden ist, beschließen die Menschen, etwas gegen die latente Bedrohung zu unternehmen und all das wandelnde Blech zu vernichten. Bald schon entsteht daraus ein gewaltiger und jahrzehntelanger Krieg, bei dem beide Seiten immense Verluste erleiden. Doch trotz aller Maßnahme scheinen die endlosen Horden an Maschinen einfach unbezwingbar zu sein …

Episode 4: »Kid’s Story«
Der Junge Michael, zumeist einfach »Kid« genannt, bevorzugt den Traum mehr als das Wachsein. Schon bald trifft auf Widerstandsführer Neo, der ihn vor nahenden Agenten warnt. Weil es in einem Traum gesehen hat, stürzt sich Kid vom Schuldach, aber das Ergebnis entspricht nicht unbedingt den Erwartungen.

Episode 5: »Program«
Cis und ihr Freund Duo befinden sich in einer Trainingssimulation, als Letzterer plötzlich von ihr verlangt, ihn in die Matrix zu begleiten. Weil Cis ablehnt und Duo darauf besteht, artet die energische Diskussion bald aus.

Episode 6: »World Record«
Dan ist ein bemerkenswerter Sprinter, dessen zuletzt aufgestellter Weltrekord leider nicht anerkannt wurde. Als er einen weiteren offiziellen Versuch startet, ist er so schnell, dass die Agenten eingreifen. Am Ende ist es Dan, der für seine unerwartete Gegenwehr einen grausamen Preis bezahlen muss.

Episode 7: »Beyond«
Das Mädchen Youko vermisst ihre entlaufene Katze Yuki. Jungen aus der Nachbarschaft nehmen sie mit ins sogenannte »Spukhaus«, wo es etliche Fehler in der Matrix gibt – Fehler, die bei den Jungs und Youko für Verwunderung und Erstaunen sorgen. Doch auch die Agenten sind bereits auf dem Weg …

Episode 8: »A Detective Story«
Ash ist Privatdetektiv und hat einen richtigen dicken Fisch an Land gezogen, schließlich erhält er üppige 800.000 Dollar, wenn die berüchtigte Hackerin Trinity aufspürt. Allerdings haben das vor ihm schon andere versucht, die aber alle unerfreuliche Schicksale erlitten haben. Auch Ashs Treffen mit der Hackerin verläuft alles andere als nach Plan.

Episode 9: »Matriculated«
Auf der Oberfläche haben einige Rebellen eine Drohne der Maschinen gefangen genommen und versuchen nun, diese umzuprogrammieren. Die Drohne fühlt sich zu Alexa hingezogen und kämpft daher aufseiten der Rebellen, als diese unter Beschuss von weiteren Drohnen gelangen.

- "El último vuelo de Osiris" (Andrew R. Jones): La tripulación del Osiris tiene que llevar un mensaje de vital importancia a Zion, y se encontrarán en el camino con la armada de centinelas.

- "Segundo Renacimiento" (Mahiro Maeda): Fomado por dos cortometrajes, "Parte 1" y "Parte 2". La génesis de la matriz, las últimas ciudades de la humanidad, la guerra de las máquinas y la ruina final, forman un tour épico guiado alrededor de los archivos de Zion y de la historia de Matrix.

- "Historia del chico" (Shinichiro Watanabe): Sentado en su clase, un niño recibe una invitación personalizada de Neo para escapar de Matrix, pero buscando una salida encuentra más dificultad que la que nunca hubiese imaginado.
