Case Closed: Captured in Her Eyes (2000)

In “Case Closed: Captured in Her Eyes”, the young detective Conan has to deal with a particularly precarious case: the murder of police officers – the very people who solve such cases.

Just a moment ago, Conan was standing in a phone box to put Rachel off again when, just a while later, he has to witness a policeman being shot in the same booth while making a phone call. The pursuit of the perpetrator fails, any help for the victim comes too late, and clues and traces are few and far between. To make matters worse, it is not long before there is another victim in the police ranks.

When the Mori family, together with Conan, attends a wedding to which various members of the police force are also invited, the case takes a very personal turn for Conan: When policewoman Simone Miwako meets Rachel in the ladies’ room, an explosion causes the power to fail. Shortly afterwards, Simone is shot by the unknown killer, Rachel escapes with a fright. However, that fright is so great that she promptly loses her memory of the incident – and thus also of the assassin’s face.

Now Rachel is in great danger as a potential witness, and the police also try to keep all their findings under wraps. Against adverse circumstances, Conan must find the murderer as quickly as possible to protect his beloved Rachel.

In »Detektiv Conan: Der Killer in ihren Augen« muss sich der junge Detektiv Conan mit einer besonders prekären Mordserie auseinandersetzen: Mord an Polizisten – also an ebenjenen, die solche Fälle aufklären.

Gerade noch eben hat Conan in einer Telefonzelle gestanden, um Ran mal wieder zu vertrösten, wenig später muss er mitansehen, wie ein Polizist in der gleichen Zelle beim Telefonieren erschossen wird. Die Verfolgung des Täters scheitert, für das Opfer kommt jede Hilfe zu spät, Hinweise und Spuren sind rar gesät. Zu allem Übel dauert es nicht lange, bis es in den Reihen der Polizei ein weiteres Opfer gibt.

Als die Familie Mori, gemeinsam mit Conan, an einer Hochzeit teilnimmt, bei der auch diverse Mitglieder der Polizisten eingeladen sind, nimmt der Fall für Conan eine sehr persönliche Wendung: Als die Polizistin Miwako Satou in der Damentoilette auf Ran trifft, fällt durch eine Explosion der Strom aus. Kurz darauf wird Miwako vom unbekannten Killer angeschossen, Ran kommt mit dem Schrecken davon. Der ist allerdings so groß, dass sie prompt ihre Erinnerung an den Vorfall verliert – und somit auch die an das Gesicht des Attentäters.

Nun schwebt Ran als potenzielle Zeugin in höchster Gefahr, und die Polizei versucht auch noch, sämtliche Erkenntnisse unter Verschluss zu halten. Gegen widrige Umstände muss Conan den Mörder jetzt schnellstmöglich finden, um seine geliebte Ran zu beschützen.
