Synopsis

People are born, they grow old, and they must one day die. This is an absolute law of heaven and earth. However, Himik, the ageing queen of Yamataikoku, refuses to accept this and is searching for a way to escape it. She sends her army to hunt down the legendary phoenix, whose blood is said to offer eternal life, and she is willing to pay any price for it.

When General Sarutahiko finds the phoenix on Tierra del Fuego, he kills almost all of its inhabitants at the queen’s behest. Only the life of a boy named Nagi is spared, and Himiko orders him to be brought to Yamataikoku so that she can train him as a hunter. However, when General Sarutahiko defies the queen’s order to kill Nagi immediately, the two of them escape back to Tierra del Fuego, where an adventurous odyssey begins …
