One Piece: Mamore! Saigo no Oobutai (2003)

This time, “One Piece: Mamore! Saigo no Oobutai” focuses on former Navy Lieutenant Randolph, who once lost his entire family because of pirates. Since he retired, he has been pursuing a special occupation: he performs a play on his ship to give hope to all those who are also victims of pirates. Now, this famous play is being performed for the last time, and the Strawhat Pirates, of all people, decide to buy tickets and watch the play.

However, shortly before the performance, three actors suddenly jumped off. So that the play can take place, the straw-hatted pirates step in – but with rather questionable success: one says too many lines, and the next can’t remember his. In short: the first act is a hopeless mess. The situation also almost escalates when Randolph realises who Luffy and his friends are.

But all that fades into the background when navy ships appear and Randolph is arrested by the commander. However, the matter is personal – and stinks big time, so Luffy and his companions decide to save Randolph and with him the last performance of the play.

Im Mittelpunkt von »One Piece: Mamore! Saigo no Oobutai« steht diesmal der ehemalige Marine-Leutnant Randolph, der einst wegen Piraten seine gesamte Familie verlor. Seitdem er im Ruhestand ist, geht er daher einer besonderen Beschäftigung nach: Er führt auf seinem Schiff ein Schauspiel auf, um all jenen Hoffnung zu geben, die ebenfalls Opfer von Piraten sind. Nun wird dieses berühmte Stück zum letzten Mal aufgeführt, und ausgerechnet die Strohhut-Piratenbande beschließt, sich Tickets zu kaufen und das Stück zu schauen.

Kurz vor der Aufführung springen jedoch drei der Akteure plötzlich ab. Damit das Schauspiel stattfinden kann, springen die Strohhut-Piraten ein – allerdings mit ziemlich fragwürdigem Erfolg: Der eine sagt zu viele Zeilen, der nächste kann sich an seine nicht erinnern. Kurzum: Der erste Akt ist ein heilloses Durcheinander. Die Situation eskaliert auch noch um ein Haar, als Randolph erkennt, um wen es sich bei Ruffy und seinen Freunden handelt.

All das rückt aber in den Hintergrund, als Schiffe der Marine erscheinen und Randolph vom Kommandanten verhaftet wird. Die Angelegenheit ist allerdings persönlich – und stinkt gewaltig, weswegen Ruffy und seine Gefährten beschließen, Randolph und damit auch die letzte Aufführung des Schauspiels zu retten.
