GR: Giant Robo (2007)

Giant robots, or GRs for short, are appearing all over the world and destroy the ruins of ancient buildings.

18-year-old school dropout Daisaku Kusama has run away from home to work at the Higa Diving Shop in southern Yonaguni, Japan’s westernmost island. During a dive with Alex McKenzie, a manager of UNISOM (the independent UN forces), he has a vision and almost drowns. When he goes diving again the same evening, he meets a mysterious girl, V, on the beach. She prophesies he will make a deal with one of these giants. When he dives afterwards, he finds the entrance to an underwater pyramid, and while exploring it, something suddenly pops into his head …

Der 18-jährige Schulabbrecher Daisaku Kusama ist von zu Hause ausgerissen und arbeitet im Diving Shop Higa im südlichen Yonaguni, der westlichsten Insel Japans. Während eines Tauchgangs mit Alex McKenzie, einer Managerin der UNISOM (der unabhängigen UN-Streitkräfte) hat er eine Vision und ertrinkt dabei fast. Als er am selben Abend noch einmal tauchen geht, trifft er am Strand ein geheimnisvolles Mädchen, V. Sie prophezeit ihm, dass er mit einem dieser Giganten einen Vertrag schließen wird. Als er anschließend taucht, findet er den Eingang zu einer Unterwasser-Pyramide, und bei deren Erkundung schießt ihm plötzlich etwas durch den Kopf …
