Twelve Months (1980)

Little Anja doesn’t have it easy, living with her stepmother and stepsister Natasha in an uncomfortable hut in the middle of the forest. Naturally, she is all too often the target of her relatives’ meanness. Kind-hearted deeds such as feeding the animals in winter are punished with extra chores such as collecting wood.

A young queen, on the other hand, decides during class that she wants snowdrops for New Year’s Day – and as soon as possible. No sooner is the ruler’s wish announced than Anja’s stepmother’s ears prick up at the lavish reward and, in her greed, sends poor Anja into the snowy forest in search of flowers. But the girl was lucky because, in the middle of the forest, she finds twelve mysterious figures by a fire, which turn out to be the Twelve Months. April, in particular, takes pity on Anja and allows her to pick the coveted flowers.

As a parting gift, Anja is given a ring with which she can call the twelve again at any time. In return, however, she is not allowed to reveal their secret. When the stepmother finds out more and more about the secret, Anja’s loyalty is put to the test.

Die kleine Anja hat’s wahrlich nicht leicht, muss doch mit ihrer Stiefmutter und deren Tochter Natascha in einer nicht gerade komfortablen Hütte mitten im Wald hausen. Natürlich ist sie allzu oft das Ziel von Gemeinheiten ihrer Verwandten; gutherzige Taten wie das Füttern der Tiere im Winter werden schnell mit Zusatzarbeiten wie beispielsweise Holzsammeln bestraft.

Eine junge Zarin hingegen beschließt während des Unterrichts, sie wolle Schneeglöckchen für den Neujahrstag – und zwar möglichst sofort. Kaum ist der Wunsch der Herrscherin verkündet, da wird Anjas Stiefmutter aufgrund der üppigen Belohnung auch schon hellhörig und schickt in ihrer Gier die arme Anja in den verschneiten Wald auf Blumensuche. Doch das Mädchen hatte Glück, denn mitten im Wald findet sie an einem Feuer zwölf mysteriöse Gestalten, die sich als die Zwölf Monate entpuppen. Gerade April hat Mitleid mit Anja und gibt ihr die Gelegenheit, die begehrten Blumen zu pflücken.

Anja bekommt zum Abschied auch einen besonderen Ring geschenkt, mit dem sie die zwölf jederzeit erneut rufen kann. Zum Ausgleich darf sie deren Geheimnis aber nicht verraten. Als die Stiefmutter dem Geheimnis immer mehr auf die Spur kommt, wird Anjas Loyalität auf eine harte Probe gestellt.

Sinopsis:
Anya vive con su madre y su hermana en una casita cerca de un bosque de abetos. Un día, Anya va a buscar leña para la reina y se encuentra a un guapo soldado de la corte que le regala una ramita de abeto para que se la dé a la reina. La reina sabe que ese abeto tiene unas flores muy bonitas y quiere que se las traigan, cosa por otra parte imposible porque estamos en pleno invierno y el abeto florece en abril. Pero a Anya le sucede algo prodigioso que cambiará su vida y que va hacer posible el capricho de la reina.
