Huckleberry Finn wohnt allein in einem großen Fass am Rande des Dorfes und erlebt mit den anderen Kindern des Dorfes gemeinsam spannende Abenteuer. Als er zufällig davon erfährt, dass Räuber die gutmütige Witwe Douglas überfallen wollen, versucht er mit allen Mitteln, dies zu verhindern. Gemeinsam mit Jim, dem Sklaven der Witwe Douglas, kann Huckleberry die Räuber fangen und der Gerichtsbarkeit übergeben. Eines Tages taucht Huckleberrys gewalttätiger Vater auf und die Witwe Douglas wird von hartnäckigen Sklavenhändlern belästigt. In dieser Lage können sowohl Jim als auch Huckleberry nur noch die Flucht ergreifen. Der Weg führt beide auf ein gemeinsames Floß und es beginnt eine abenteuerliche Reise …
