A Letter to Momo (2011)

Following the death of her father, who left her a letter that never got beyond a greeting, Momo struggles to come to terms with her grief and guilt, and finds herself distanced from her mother. When the two move to a new home on a remote island in the Japanese Inland Sea, Momo befriends a young boy and his perceptive younger sister, a timid postman and three rascally goblins. With their help Momo prepares to take the plunge into her new life on the island.

»Liebe Momo!« — das war alles, was in einem Brief geschrieben stand, den Momos verstorbener Vater hinterlassen hat. Momo und ihre Mutter sind gerade von der Großstadt Tokio aufs Land an der japanischen Seto-Inlandsee gezogen. Sie leben auf einer Insel, in einer wundersamen Stadt, die auf allen Seiten von idyllischen Häusern und Naturlandschaften umgeben ist. Aber auch als Momo ein neues Leben beginnt, fragt sie sich weiterhin, was ihr Vater in diesem Brief wirklich schreiben wollte. Eines Tages entdeckt sie auf dem Dachboden ein altes Buch, woraufhin sich allerlei seltsame Geschehnisse abspielen …
