Chihayafuru (2011)

Chihaya Ayase is a frank and ebullient girl who becomes fascinated by the obscure world of competitive karuta, a card game based on Japanese poetry. Introduced to the aggressive style of the game by a quiet and thoughtful elementary school classmate named Arata Wataya, the two quickly become close friends. They start playing as a group with Taichi Mashima, Chihaya’s smart and athletic childhood friend, until they have to part ways during their middle school years due to several circumstances. As their high school life begins, they meet once again.

Chihaya Ayases Traum war es lange Zeit, dass ihre Schwester eine große Karriere als Model macht. Schließlich beschloss sie aber, dass sie ihren eigenen Weg gehen muss. Im letzten Jahr der Grundschule kommt der stille Arata Wataya neu in ihre Klasse, der sich als exzellenter Karuta-Spieler herausstellt. Chihaya ist fasziniert von der Wettkampfvariante dieses Kartenspiels, das sie bisher nur als simplen Zeitvertreib kannte. Sie beginnt sich damit zu beschäftigen und steigert ihr Können kontinuierlich, bis sie nun schließlich in der Oberschule nicht nur älter, sondern auch in Karuta weit fortgeschrittener ist.

Sinopsis:
Toda su vida Chihaya ha soñado con ver a su hermana mayor convertirse en la modelo Nº1 de Japón. Eso hasta que un estudiante nuevo llamado Arata le explica que un sueño es aquel en el cual uno mismo trabaja. Esta afirmación cambia el pensamiento de Chihaya y gracias a el descubre su verdadero sueño y pasión, el "Hyakunin Isshu" un juego de cartas tradicional de Japón. Ella descubre que tiene un talento innato para este juego y ahora su sueño será ser la mejor jugadora del mundo.
