Synopsis

In “Rurouni Kenshin: New Kyoto Arc”, Kenshin Himura must face an opponent who is practically a glimpse into the past. After Kenshin stopped carrying out contract killings as “Battousai”, he moved away to fight with an inverted sword from now on. His place was taken by the swordsman Makoto Shishio, but as he slowly became too dangerous for his employers, they lured him into a potentially deadly ambush. The result: Makoto survived but with severe burns. Now he lives bandaged like a mummy, though he has lost none of his fighting skills and is gathering a like-minded entourage to shape the country in his image – an image that grants only the strongest a right to exist.

In search of his effective successor, Kenshin meets the young ninja fighter Misao, who, in turn, wants to find her crush. Together, they find the renegade Makoto, but in the first fight, Kenshin’s blade breaks. While Makoto continues to cause terror and destruction, Kenshin must find a blacksmith to obtain a new blade. However, his former blacksmith is no longer alive, and his son refuses to produce a tool for killing again. Will Kenshin manage to obtain a new sword and defeat his opponent before he brings the country to ruin altogether?
