Kuroko no Baske / 黒子のバスケ

Information

Synopsis

For the past three years, Teikou Middle School has dominated the national basketball scene with its legendary team: the “Generation of Miracles”, consisting of five prodigies with almost limitless talent. But secretly, there was a sixth player among them named Tetsuya Kuroko, who helped his team out of the shadows to victory. After winning the national championships for three consecutive years, the team decided to go their separate ways when they moved to secondary school, agreeing to face each other as rivals in the future. Kuroko has also remained loyal to the sport, and together with Taiga Kagami, he now joins the Seirin High School.

However, the big goal of winning the next championship is a long way off for the time being. Kuroko’s low presence and lack of athletic talent are open to criticism. Nevertheless, he promises Kagami, who has just returned from America and has enormous jumping power, to support him as his “shadow” so that his “light” can score better. To become full members of the basketball team, Kagami, Kuroko and the other first-graders not only have to take an oath in front of the whole school, but also be prepared for a tough game. Because the upcoming audition will take place against a team that a member of the Generation of Miracles was able to win over…

Quotes

  • Tetsuya KUROKO

I am a supporting actor, a shadow. But a shadow will become darker if the light is stronger and it will make the white of the light stand out. As the shadow of the main actor, I will make you, the light, the number one in Japan.

  • Tetsuya KUROKO

I may be a shadow … but … the brighter the light, the more intense the shadow. I can make the white of that light stand out. I’ll be the shadow to your light and make you the best in Japan.

  • Tetsuya KUROKO

At the end of the game, no matter how many points you’ve beaten the opponent by … It’s not “winning” if you can’t be happy about it!
