Während einer stürmischen und kalten Nacht sucht die Ziege Mei einen Unterschlupf, um sich vor den unberechenbaren Verhältnissen zu schützen. Als sie eine Höhle findet, bemerkt sie, dass sie nicht alleine ist. Nicht in der Lage einander zu riechen oder zu sehen, beschließen die beiden, einander zu wärmen und sich zu einem besseren Zeitpunkt wiederzusehen. Als es zum erneuten Treffen kommt, muss Mei feststellen, dass es sich bei ihrem neuen Freund um den Wolf Gabu handelt. Entgegen ihrer von der Natur festgelegten Konkurrenz freunden sich die beiden an und unternehmen viele Abenteuer. Als die Herde von Mei und das Rudel von Gabu jedoch Wind von der ungewöhnlichen Freundschaft bekommen, wird den beiden der Kontakt untereinander verboten. Die Freundschaft der ungleichen Partner wird auf eine harte Probe gestellt.
