Description
Several hundred years ago, mankind was nearly wiped out by the titans. The aggressive giants are much taller and – physically – stronger than humans, however less intelligent. Furthermore, it seems that they eat humans just for fun. Only few people survived these attacks because they entrenched themselves behind tremendous walls.
The city was safe from titans for about 100 years. Nevertheless, the adolescent Eren Yeager and his foster-sister Mikasa Ackerman have to watch how the city walls are destroyed by an incredibly big titan. As a result, many small titans are able to enter the city and wreak havoc. To make matters worse, Eren has to witness the death of his mother, who is eaten by a titan. Henceforth, he is hell-bent on vengeance …

Vor einem Jahrhundert wurde die Menschheit nahezu von Titanen, deren Ursprung unbekannt ist, ausgerottet. Sie sind riesig, verfügen über geringe Intelligenz und scheinen Menschen nur des Vergnügens wegen zu fressen. Ein kleiner Teil der Menschheit überlebte, indem sie sich in einer Stadt verschanzten, deren gewaltige Mauern höher sind als selbst die größten Titanen.
Seit mehr als 100 Jahren hat der Rest der Menschheit nun keinen Titanen mehr gesehen. Doch an jenem schicksalhaften Tag erscheint wie aus dem Nichts ein „Supertitan“ vor der Stadt und durchbricht die Mauer. Als die Titanen in die Stadt einfallen, müssen Eren und seine Ziehschwester Mikasa mit ansehen, wie ihre Mutter bei lebendigem Leibe gefressen wird. Eren schwört, dass er jeden einzelnen Titanen auf der Welt abschlachten und Rache für die gesamte Menschheit nehmen wird.

Da ormai cento anni le alte mura che circondano Shiganshina hanno difeso la cittadina da un pericolo che gli abitanti si rifiutano persino di nominare. Chi desidera esplorare il mondo esterno è visto come un pazzo e guardato con disprezzo.
Il giovane Eren si sente però come un animale in cattività e sogna di unirsi al Corpo di Ricerca e scoprire la realtà che lo circonda, sebbene avvenga spesso che le squadre inviate ritornino decimate.
Un giorno sogna l’attacco di esseri giganteschi e, anche se al risveglio ha rimosso ogni ricordo di quanto ha visto, gli resta addosso una strana sensazione. E poco più tardi accade l’imprevisto: un immenso Titano apre una breccia nelle mura di protezione. Il fatto causerà a Eren uno shock senza precedenti.
