Description

“Itazura Post” is one of the earliest known anime, created by Seitarou Kitayama in the summer of 1917. It is now considered a lost film. The movie was commissioned by the Japanese Ministry of Communications and showed the obstacles a letter has to overcome on its way to a customer. It is the earliest known Japanese animation to put the focus on information and advertising rather than pure entertainment.

»Itazura Post« ist einer der ältesten Anime überhaupt und wurde schon im Sommer 1917 von Seitarou Kitayama geschaffen. Heute gilt er als verschollener Film. Der Film wurde vom japanischen Ministerium für Verkehr und Postwesen in Auftrag gegeben und zeigte die Hürden, die ein versandter Brief auf dem Weg zum Empfänger mit sich bringt. Der Film ist die früheste bekannte japanische Animation, die statt reiner Unterhaltung als Informations- und Werbefilm gewertet werden kann.
