Description
“100 Banme no Saru” is based on the book “The Hundredth Monkey” by Ken Keyes Jr., which was published in 1982 and refers to the hundredth monkey effect, a myth popularized in scientific circles in the seventies: if a monkey learns a certain skill, it can teach this skill to other monkeys in its group. As soon as a certain number of monkeys have acquired this ability, it was allegedly observed that not only the other monkeys from the same group but another group’s monkeys, which had no contact with the first, would be able to utilize it.
Keyes applies this principle to humans and, through the example of the anti-nuclear movement, assumes that a union of many people can bring about lasting changes.
