Hodaka Morishima trifft, am Tiefpunkt seines Lebens angelangt, Ame in einer Seitengasse in Tokio. Er erkennt sofort, dass sich auch Ame in einer schlechten Situation befindet und gibt ihr etwas von seinem Essen ab. Zunächst kommt Hodaka regelmäßig, um Ame zu füttern. Nach einer Weile nimmt er sie auf und sie beginnen, zusammen bei K&A zu leben, wo auch Natsumi und Keisuke Suga leben. Sie bauen eine gute Beziehung zueinander auf.

Als Hodaka zurück in seine Heimat muss, nimmt Keisuke das kleine Kätzchen auf. In den Jahren wo Hodaka in seiner Heimat ist, wird Ame übergewichtig, bleibt aber glücklich.
