Toorus Mutter kam vor etwa einem halben Jahr bei einem Autounfall ums Leben - sie war eine wilde, rebellische und lebenslustige Frau, ihrer Tochter aber auch eine liebevolle, fürsorgliche Mutter. Da ihr Mann wenige Jahre nach Toorus Geburt verstarb, zog sie sie ganz alleine auf. Von der Persönlichkeit her sind die beiden sehr verschieden, teilen aber dieselbe Einstellung, was den Umgang mit anderen Menschen angeht: ihnen unvoreingenommen und offen zu begegnen. Abgesehen davon war Kyouko aber auch jemand, der zu Lebzeiten kräftig auf den Putz gehauen hat und ähnlich burschikos und rauflustig veranlagt war wie Arisa (die ihr sehr nahe stand und Toorus Mutter immer noch als ein Vorbild ansieht).
