Zusammen mit seiner Frau ist der alte Aures einer der Gäste des Transkontinental-Express zur Hauptstadt von Sou-Beil und macht hier Bekanntschaft mit Allison Whittington und kurz darauf auch mit Wilhelm Schultz. Er ist der Vorsitzende von Aures Motion Pictures, die genauen Gründe seiner Reise sind jedoch unbekannt. Der Besuch der neu eröffneten Lutoni-Brücke ist ihm die Reise aber allemal wert, da in der Nähe sein Sohn als Soldat im Krieg gefallen ist und er seiner mittels des Wurfes eines Blumenkranzes in den gleichnamigen Fluss gedenken möchte.
