Description

Alto Goldfield is a student at the Royal Ortigia Magic Academy and is considered exceptionally talented. He excels in all magical disciplines – except summoning magic. However, since summoning is a requirement for advancing to the second year, Alto is on the verge of being expelled. In his search for a solution, he accidentally comes across an old summoning book. Without fully understanding the ritual, he performs it and ends up summoning the demoness Vermeil.

Vermeil is known as one of the most powerful demonic beings in history. Due to the extraordinary strength of Alto’s magical energy, he is able to form a contract with her. His mana is so potent that it is harmful to ordinary familiars – a fact that caused his previous summoning attempts to fail. Now, with Vermeil by his side, he fortunately manages to advance to the second year.

On the outside, Alto appears polite, responsible, and disciplined. He aims to become a so-called “Platinum Square” mage – a title reserved for the most powerful magicians. However, he quickly finds himself entangled in conflicts at school, especially with his childhood friend Lilia Kudelfeyt, who is deeply suspicious of Vermeil. In a duel against her, Alto and Vermeil win effortlessly, drawing both admiration and suspicion from other students.

After an incident involving the teacher Obsidian, during which Vermeil’s true nature is nearly exposed, Alto is summoned by the student council. Instead of being punished, he is recruited as a new member. The goal is to keep both Alto and Vermeil under observation and to use their powers for the benefit of the school. Alto agrees, knowing full well that he has little choice. From then on, he remains under close watch – both because of his extraordinary magical potential and his dangerous demonic familiar.

Alto Goldfield ist ein Schüler an der Royal Ortigia Magic Academy und gilt als äußerst talentiert. In allen magischen Disziplinen erzielt er hervorragende Leistungen – mit Ausnahme der Beschwörungsmagie. Da diese jedoch Voraussetzung für den Aufstieg ins zweite Schuljahr ist, steht Alto kurz vor dem Schulverweis. Bei der Suche nach einer Lösung stößt er zufällig auf ein altes Beschwörungsbuch. Ohne genaue Kenntnisse des Rituals führt er es aus und ruft dabei die Teufelin Vermeil herbei.

Vermeil zählt zu den mächtigsten Dämonenwesen der Geschichte. Aufgrund der außergewöhnlichen Stärke seiner magischen Energie gelingt es Alto, einen Pakt mit ihm einzugehen. Seine Mana-Menge ist so hoch, dass sie für gewöhnliche Vertraute schädlich ist – ein Umstand, der seine bisherigen Beschwörungsversuche scheitern ließ. Nun, mit Vermeil an seiner Seite, schafft er jedoch glücklicherweise den Aufstieg ins zweite Schuljahr.

Nach außen hin zeigt Alto sich höflich, verantwortungsbewusst und diszipliniert. Er verfolgt das Ziel, ein sogenannter »Platinum Square«-Magier zu werden – eine Auszeichnung für besonders mächtige Magier. Innerhalb der Schule gerät er jedoch schnell in Konflikte, insbesondere mit seiner Kindheitsfreundin Lilia Kudelfeyt, die Vermeil mehr als nur misstraut. Bei einem Duell gegen sie gelingt Alto und Vermeil allerdings mühelos der Sieg, was sowohl Aufsehen als auch Misstrauen anderer Schüler hervorruft.

Nach einem Zwischenfall rund um den Lehrer Obsidian, bei dem Vermeils wahres Wesen beinahe aufgedeckt wird, wird Alto vom Schülerrat zur Rechenschaft gezogen. Anstatt jedoch bestraft zu werden, wird er als neues Mitglied aufgenommen. Ihr Ziel ist es, sowohl ihn als auch Vermeil unter Kontrolle zu behalten und ihre Kräfte für schulische Zwecke zu nutzen. Alto willigt ein, da ihm bewusst ist, dass er eigentlich kaum eine Wahl hat. Von nun an steht er unter verstärkter Beobachtung – sowohl wegen seiner außergewöhnlichen magischen Begabung als auch wegen seiner gefährlichen, teuflischen Vertrauten.
