Natsuko Komatsu ist Hachikos Mutter und lebt gemeinsam mit ihrem Ehemann und ihren anderen beiden Töchtern Nami und Nao zusammmen. Selbstverständlich macht sich Natsuko um ihre nach Tokyo ausgereiste Tochter Sorgen, doch eigentlich bleibt sie immerzu sehr gelassen und entspannt. Sie scheint darüberhinaus einen übernatürlichen Riecher dafür zu haben, wenn eine ihrer Töchter in Problemen steckt und ist dann schnellstmöglich mit Unterstützung zur Stelle. Übrigens traut Natsuko ihrer Tochter Hachi nicht zu, dass sie über längere Zeit allein in Tokyo leben kann.
