Ishida ist einer der beiden Mitschüler von Misaki Ayuzawa, die eines Abends, während sie ein Schachspiel im Schaufenster bestaunten, von Hirofumi Koganei beschimpft und provoziert wurden und daraufhin eine Schlägerei mit den Miyabigaoka-Schülern begannen. Beide handelten sich damit eine Menge Ärger von ihrer Schülerpräsidentin Misaki ein, die sich für die beiden aufrichtig entschuldigte.
