Lewis Halberton ist ein Natural (=natürlich geborener Mensch) und war früher in der Armee der Atlantischen Föderation, der Mentor von Murrue Ramius. Jetzt ist er der Admiral der Mondflotte der Erdallianz und auf dessen Hauptraumschiff Menelaos stationiert.

Damit die Archangel sicher in die Erdatmosphäre absteigen und zur Hauptbasis in Alaska gelangen kann, schließt er sich ihnen mit seiner Flotte am 11.Februar C.E. 71 (Cosmic Era) an, um ihnen vor der ZAFT-Einheit Geleitschutz zu geben.

Obwohl er im Krieg loyal gegen die Coordinator (=Genetisch manipulierte Menschen, mit einer höheren Leistungsfähigkeit und Immunität gegen Krankheiten) kämpft, hegt er keinen tieferen Hass gegen diese.
