Kiyo und ihr Ehemann Gensuke kümmern sich um das Ferienhaus der Ogasawaras. Wenn deren Tochter Sachiko zu Besuch kommt, kocht sie für Sachiko und erledigt auch andere Aufgaben. Sie ist eine Art Haushaltshilfe über den Sommer. In diesem Jahr kocht sie nicht nur für Sachiko sondern auch für deren Begleitung Yumi. Kiyo empfängt Yumi sehr freundlich, weil Yumi für sie fast schon zur Familie Ogasawara gehört. Das Angebot von Yumi, ihr doch im Haushalt zu helfen, lehnt sie aber ab, es sei schließlich ihre Arbeit. Gegen einen kleine Spieleabend mit Sachiko, Yumi und Gensuke hat sie aber nichts einzuwenden. Da sie und Yumi aus normalen Verhältnissen stammen, warnt sie Yumi vor den gefährlichen Damen der feinen Gesellschaft. Zu spät hat Kiyo erkannt, dass sie über Yumi absichtlich ausgefragt wurde.
