Chitose ist das jüngste Kind der Inaba-Familie und die kleine Schwester von Hiroshi, den sie aber schon seit fast einem Jahr nicht mehr gesehen hat, da er zum Studieren in die Stadt gezogen ist. Erst als sich abzeichnet, dass ihr Vater seiner Krankheit erlegen wird, kehrt er in seine Heimat und zu seiner Schwester zurück. Chitose leidet ebenfalls unter einer schweren Erkrankung, die zwar durch einen operativen Eingriff behandelt werden kann, jedoch birgt dieser ein enormes Risiko in sich. Dennoch beschließt die ungewöhnlich willensstarke Chitose nach dem Tod ihres Vaters, sich dem Eingriff zu unterziehen und erhält dabei Unterstützung von Hiroshi und dessen neuer Freundin Ojo, aber auch deren Stofftier Archimedes schafft es immer wieder ihr ein Lachen ins Gesicht zu zaubern. Weshalb sie voller Zuversicht in die Zukunft Blickt und keine Zweifel daran hat, dass sich alles zum Besten wendet.
