Zusammen mit Hans Dietrich von Seeckt ist er für die Bewachung der Festung Iserlohn zuständig. Die beiden harmonieren aber kein bisschen, weswegen sie sich wegen jeder Kleinigkeit streiten. Dies führte dazu, dass Hans die Flotten anführt, während Thoma alles übernimmt, was die Festung betrifft. Natürlich kann Thoma aufgrund dieses Arbeitsverhältnisses nicht richtig arbeiten, denn jeder macht das, was er für richtig hält, so etwas wie Kooperation existiert nicht. Ob Hans bei einer Mission ums Leben kommt, ist ihm demnach vollkommen egal.
