Yume ist das religiöse Oberhaupt der Gruppierung Nako-kyo, ein Kult, der sie als lebende Gottheit verehrt. An ihrer Seite stehen die beiden Hohepriesterinnen Nene Tsukigase und Youko Komiya, die zu ihrem Schutz da sind und als ihr Sprachrohr fungieren, da Yume nur selten öffentlich auftritt. Ihre Anhänger bekommen sie nur bei ihren regelmäßigen Wunderheilungen zu sehen, denn ihrem Blut werden heilende Kräfte zugeschrieben.

Yume selbst leidet jedoch unter einem Mangel an Selbstwertgefühl, denn sie hält ihre gesamte Existenz für einen Fluch, da sie nicht jedem mit ihren Heilkräften helfen kann und daher viele warten müssen und währenddessen leiden. Ihre Unsicherheit und Angst wird dadurch noch verstärkt, dass außer ihren mystischen Kräften noch eine weitere Abnormität vorhanden ist: Yume besitzt sowohl ein weibliches als auch ein männliches Geschlechtsorgan, wofür sie sich zutiefst schämt. Sie glaubt, dass selbst ihre engsten Vertrauten sie deswegen widerwärtig und abstoßend finden müssten.
