Aufgrund des starken Konsums von Literatur, die in seiner Heimat als illegal gilt und von der er sehr fasziniert ist, entscheidet er sich Schriftsteller zu werden. Doch dafür muss er aus dem Land der Bücher ausziehen, denn schließlich möchte ein Author ja seine Werke veröffentlichen und das ist ihm ins seinem Land nicht möglich.
Er hat allerdings kaum Ahnung vom Reisen und ist in der Wüste kurz vor dem Verdursten, ehe Kino ihn rettet. Außerdem hat er seine Verlobte zu Hause zurückgelassen, womit er ihr große Sorgen bereitet.
