Katsumi ist der beste Freund von Wataru Mitani. Beide verbringen häufig gemeinsam ihre Freizeit mit Videospielen und ähnlichen Zeug, was Kinder in ihrem Alter halt so machen. Als er aber von einem leerstehenden, maroden Haus hört, in dem es angeblich spucken soll, steht es für ihn außer Frage, dass die beiden dort auch einmal einen Blick riskieren sollten und schleppt Wataru einfach mit. Aufgrund seines für einen Jungen ungewöhnlichen Namens, wird er von Wataru meistens nur mit Kac-chan angesprochen.
