Aufgrund seines Berufes ist der Adoptivvater von Hazuki Makino häufig wochenlang nicht zuhause, hält zu seiner Tochter aber fast täglich Kontakt mittels Fernsehtelefon. Zwar verspricht er ihr auch dieses Mal im nächsten Monat ganz sicher wieder zurück zu kommen, aber eigentlich weiß Hazuki, dass das sowieso nur leere Worte sind und es einmal mehr nicht klappen wird, zu oft hat er sie in der Vergangenheit diesbezüglich enttäuscht.
