Sehr früh musste Integra lernen stark zu sein, denn nachdem ihr Vater verstarb, wurde sie zum neuen Kopf der Hellsing Organisation erklärt. Des Weiteren versuchte ihr Onkel Richard sie wegen dieser Position zu töten, denn er konnte sich nicht damit anfreunden, dass er nach Jahren des Wartens nicht der neue Anführer sein kann. Nur weil sie Alucard im Keller fand, der sie vor ihrem Onkel beschützte, überlebte sie diesen Anschlag. Die anfangs noch sehr lebhafte Integra veränderte sich ab diesem Moment gänzlich, denn die Verantwortung, die sie als Kopf der Hellsing Organisation zu tragen hat, wäre für ein kleines Mädchen zu viel. Deswegen wirkt sie schon mit ihren jungen dreizehn Jahren wie eine Erwachsene, vor deren Selbstbewusstsein sogar Erwachsene Respekt haben und sie daher, trotz anfänglicher Skepsis, unterstützen.
