Oeyo ist die Gemahlin des Shoguns und ist auch gleichzeitig die Mutter des nächsten Erben. Aber auch wenn sie die Mutter von Takechiyo und Kunichiyo ist, bevormundet sie Kunichiyo, den sie als nächsten Erben sehen will. Aus diesem Grund ist sie auch mit Ofuku verfeindet, die eben auf Takechiyos Seite steht. Die beiden bekriegen sich wo es nur geht und sind alles andere als zimperlich zur anderen Partei.
