Obwohl er einen sehr strengen Vater hatte, war er zu keiner Zeit wütend auf ihn, auch wenn er im Training nicht selten sehr hart angegriffen und dabei verletzt wurde. Sein Vater lehrte ihn all seine Techniken, aber nicht nur das, seine Mentalität, kein Mitleid zu zeigen, bekam er ebenfalls von ihm vermittelt. Nachdem sein Vater vom Iga Clan getötet wurde, verlor Gyoubu aber ohnehin jegliches Mitleid.
