Dank ihres adeligen Standes lebt die holde Maid Elfarcia in einem großen Anwesen samt loyalem Hausdiener, ein älterer Herr, der ihr jeden Wunsch erfüllt und sie stets umsorgt. Gerade weil sie so behütet aufgewachsen ist, besitzt Elfarcia eine kindliche Neugier, die Welt außerhalb ihres Goldenen Käfigs zu erkunden. Durch eine Unachtsamkeit bei einem dieser Ausflüge wurde jedoch ihr kostbarer Anhänger gestohlen, der „Silberne Regenbogen“, ein Erbstück ihrer Mutter. Als sie nach der Sichtung einer Sternschnuppe den gütigen Gott im Himmel darum bittet, ihr jemanden zu schicken, der das gute Stück wiederbeschafft, fällt ihr Keith Ryan buchstäblich vor die Füße. Er war lediglich mit seinem Segeldrachen abgestürzt, doch Elfarcia hält ihn fortan für einen von Gott gesandten Engel und nennt ihn demzufolge ihren „Tenshi-sama“. Daraus spricht zweifellos eine gewisse Weltfremdheit und Naivität - sie fühlt sich aber mit dem mysteriösen Fremden vom ersten Augenblick an tief verbunden und erwartet sehnsüchtig seine Rückkehr, die sich durch dessen Abenteuerlust jedoch immer wieder verzögert.
