Die mysteriösen Wesen, die »GHOUL« genannt werden, sind Kreaturen aus einem Parallel-Universum, zu welchem das »Inflation Hole« bei Watcher’s Nest einen Übergang darstellt. Sie sind Menschen gegenüber feindlich eingestellt und verfügen über Fähigkeiten, die sie zu überaus gefährlichen Gegnern machen, z.B. das Erzeugen elektrischer und temporaler Kraftfelder.
Bevor ein Ghoul selbst erscheint, kündigt er sich durch eine Projektion aus dem Alternativ-Universum an, das sich in dem unsrigen manifestiert. Bereits diese als »Specular Image« bezeichneten Abbilder entfesseln für Menschen absolut tödliche Kräfte.
