Ebines gliebter Ehemann ist bereits vor einiger Zeit gestorben, was auch der Grund dafür ist, dass diese kein warmes Essen mehr kochen kann. Bereits dies zeigt wie nahe die beiden sich gestanden haben müssen. Bestätigt wird dies auch von Ebines Erzählungen aus der Zeit als ihr Mann noch lebte und sie ihn häufig fragte, welches von zwei Gerichten, die sie gekocht hatte, besser schmecke, woraufhin er sie stets damit aufzog, dass sie zwar nah dran sei, aber beide Gerichte noch nicht ganz perfekt wären. Das einzige, was Ebine von ihrem Ehemann geblieben ist, sind seine Rezepte, nach denen er damals gekocht hat. Es ist somit auch klar, dass er wohl ein besserer Koch war als seine Frau.
