Neben Kadaj und Loz ist er einer der drei Brüder, die Cloud Strife angreifen. Von ihnen ist Yazoo eindeutig der Erwachsenste und gibt sich meist gelassen und cool, aber er neigt auch dazu den etwas kindlicheren Loz wegen seiner emotionalen Bindung zu ihrer Mutter immer wieder aufzuziehen.
Als Waffe nutzt er das Velvet Nightmare (ベルベット悪夢), ein Gunblade (Pistolenschwert), das im Grunde ein normaler Revolver ist, jedoch mit einer Schwertklinge an der Unterseite.

Die drei sind auf der Suche nach den Überresten ihrer Mutter Jenova.
