Nach außen macht Sue den Eindruck einer feinen Dame, doch hat ihre scheinbar hohe Stellung einen düsteren Hintergrund: Sie wurde in jungen Jahren bereits von ihrer Familie verkauft, und zwar an den skrupellosen Torazou Nema, der sie als sein persönliches Eigentum betrachtet. Andere Mitglieder seiner Organisation lassen von ihr deswegen zwar die Finger, aber sich dem widerwärtigen Syndikatboss zur Fleischeslust hingeben zu müssen, ist bereits ein kaum zu ertragendes Schicksal. In dieser ausweglosen Situation verliebte sie sich in Reiji Hatanaka, den Dorfpriester, dem sie sich anvertraut hatte, doch stellte sich heraus, dass er ihr Bruder ist, die in ihrer Kindheit getrennt wurden. Das stürzte sie noch mehr in Verzweiflung, ihren Bruder aber in noch höherem Maße, der Selbstmord beging, weil er in der verbotenen Liebe keinen Ausweg mehr sah. Weil Selbstmord für einen Priester eine Sünde darstellt, ließ Sue es im Nachhinein so aussehen, als wäre er ermordet worden und übte danach Rache an Nema, so dass die beiden Todesfälle auf denselben Täter hinweisen und sie selbst nicht unbedingt zum Verdächtigenkreis gehört.
