Hiashi Hyuuga ist das Oberhaupt des Hyuuga-Clans und Vater von Hinata und Onkel von Neji. Er beherrscht das Byakugan, welches für Mitglieder seines Clans einzigartig ist und die Fähigkeit zu herausragender Wahrnehmung verleiht. Da er der Erstgeborene war, wurde er zum Oberhaupt ernannt, während sein Zwillingsbruder Hizashi Teil der Nebenfamilie wurde, was diesen sehr schmähte. Da er jedoch von den Fähigkeiten seiner eigenen Tochter enttäuscht war, entschied sich Hiashi das Training von Hinata in jungen Jahren abzusetzen. Da diese jedoch selbstständig ihre Ausbildung fortsetzte, nahm Hiashi sie schließlich wieder in das Training auf und entschied sich zudem, auch den talentierteren Neji zu fördern. Es ist seine Aufgabe, die Geheimnisse des Byakugans zu bewahren.
