Isaribi stammt aus dem Reich des Sees, wird von dort aber entführt als Orochimaru es überfällt. Amachi, ein Wissenschaftler in Diensten von Orochimaru, benutzt sie daraufhin als Versuchsobjekt um Ninjas zu erschaffen, die unter Wasser eingesetzt werden können. Isarabi hilft Orochimaru zwar, aber nur, weil dieser versprochen hat, ihr ihre normale Form zurückzugeben, wenn sie ihre Aufgabe erfüllt hat.

Die Experimente sind schon so weit fortgeschritten, dass Isarabi sich beliebig in eine submarine Form namens Kaima und wieder zurück verwandeln kann, das einzige Anzeichen dieser Fähigkeit in ihrer menschlichen Form sind einige Fischschuppen auf ihrer Haut, die sie stets mit Verbänden verdeckt.
