Das Seehund-Baby wird von Sora Naegino zufällig verlassen am Strand gefunden - offenbar wurde er von seinen Eltern getrennt. Sora fackelt nicht lange und schmuggelt den niedlichen Kleinen ins Artistenwohnheim, zunächst nur um ihn zu füttern; er wächst ihr aber so schnell ans Herz, dass sie ihn behalten und sogar zum Maskottchen der Kaleido Stage machen möchte.

Jonathan freundet sich schnell auch mit den anderen Bewohnern an, allen voran Marion Benigni, die ihn später öfters auf ihrem Kopf herum trägt. Er beherrscht von vorne herein einige Balltricks und passt daher gut in die Artistentruppe.
