Vor acht Jahren arbeitete Izumo in der Bar HOMRA als Teilzeit-Beschäftigter, da seinem Onkel die Bar zu der Zeit gehörte. Izumo war schon damals eng mit Mikoto befreundet, auch wenn dieser nicht gerade gesellig war, was er aber ironisch betrachtet, besonders im Bezug auf Tatara Totsuka, welcher unbedingt der Homura beitreten und nie von Mikotos Seite weichen wollte. Totsukas Vorhaben hielt er aber für alles andere als vernünftig, weil er sich damit nur unnötig in Gefahr bringen würde.
