Während des zweiten Weltkrieges diente Daikaku als Leutnant der japanischen Nation, beschäftigte sich aber in erster Linie damit, die Ergebnisse des Projektes der Extra Alpha Group um den Wissenschaftler Adolf K. Weismann zu begutachten. Was er an Resultaten erblickte, versetzte ihn in großes Staunen und sieht darin die realgewordene Möglichkeit, aus Menschen Superwaffen zu machen, was jedoch gegen Adolfs Idealen spricht. Gegenüber diesem und vor allem seiner Schwester Claudia pflegte Daikaku ein freundschaftliches Verhältnis, auch wenn ihre Ideale weit auseinander gingen, so war Daikaku deutlich kriegskonformer und glaubte selbst im April 1945 daran, dass der Krieg noch weitergehen kann.
