Amaterasu lebt in einer Art Tempel in der Nähe eines Waldes. Da die Dämonen und bösen Geister vor knapp zehn Jahren einen fatalen Angriff starteten und sich seitdem einiges geändert hat, hat sie mit den anderen Schreinjungfrauen tagelang gebetet und die unterschiedlichsten Rituale vollzogen, um einen Kyuuseishu in ihre Welt holen zu können.

Diesen findet sie dann auch in Hikaru und seiner Truppe, die zusammen bereits einen Okamutsumi und einen Jyorogumo bezwingen konnten. Dementsprechend hoch sind ihre Erwartungen und Hoffnungen, dass sie sie von den bösartigen Wesen befreien können.

Amaterasu bevorzugt eine Naginata zum Kampf und ist auch außerordentlich begabt, was das anbelangt. Deswegen schließt sie sich dem Trupp an und begleitet sie auf ihrer Reise. Ihr Wissen ist den anderen, die nicht aus dieser Welt stammen, dabei eine große Hilfe.
