Yuri Amalfi ist ein Coordinator (=genetisch manipulierte Menschen, mit einer höheren Leistungsfähigkeit und Immunität gegen Krankheiten) und der Vater von Nicol Amalfi. Er ist im Hohen Rat von PLANT das vertretende Mitglied des Komitees für Nationale Verteidigung und vertritt die PLANT-Kolonie „Maius City“. Sein akademisches Spezialgebiet liegt in den Ingenieurwissenschaften und der Mechanik.

Zum Krieg hat er eine gemäßigte Einstellung, zwar teilt er die Meinung von Patrick Zala, dass der Krieg notwendig ist und mit einem Sieg für die Coordinator enden muss, allerdings ist Yuri Amalfi in seiner Ansicht nicht so radikal.
