Kaoru ist ein Mitglied der Esper Spezialeinheit »The Children« und wurde durch ihre herausragenden Kräfte zur Anführerin der Gruppe auserkoren. Sie ist mit den beiden anderen Mädchen aus ihrer Gruppe eng befreundet und hat auch eine enge Beziehung zu Minamoto, der sich um »The Children« wie ein Vater kümmert. Von Hyoubu, den sie ebenfalls seit langer Zeit kennt, wird sie stets »Queen« genannt und er behandelt sie auch stets wie seine Königin. Sie selbst ignoriert Hyoubus Äußerungen und versucht nur stets die Aufträge, die sie von Minamoto gestellt bekommt, zu erfüllen und so, wie sie meint, etwas Gutes für die Esper der Welt zu tun.

Kaorus Kräfte sind ähnlich wie die von Hyoubu und sie trägt den Titel »Queen«, weil er sie wegen gewisser Umstände in Zukunft auf den Thron und somit als neue Anführerin seiner Widerstandstruppe P.A.N.D.R.A sieht.
