Kouichi ist ebenfalls ein stolzes Mitglied des Fahrrad-Clubs seiner Schule. Er ist seit seiner Kindheit mit Yousuke befreundet und teilt seine Leidenschaft fürs Radfahren. Sein Vater besitzt einen Fahrrad-Laden, so ist aufgrund seiner Kontakte immer für Ersatzteile gesorgt. Kouichi ist im Gegensatz zu Yousuke viel ruhiger und sanfter. Als Vize-Vorsitzender des Clubs ist er vor allem für den Neuling Mikoto eine oftmals wichtige Vertrauensperson. Kouichi ist ebenso talentiert wie Yousuke, hat jedoch nicht den Drang zu gewinnen, sondern ist mit seiner Leistung absolut zufrieden. Er vermeidet Streitereien und ist meist in der Schlichter-Rolle.
