Noboru gehört dem Basketballclub der Schule an, ebenso wie Keisuke, und hat mit diesem gemeinsam, dass sie nur selten zum Training erscheinen, dafür aber umso großspuriger mit ihrem vermeintlichen Können prahlen. Als Noboru erfährt, wie nahe sich Keisuke und Akira stehen, fordert er ihn zum Duell heraus, denn Akira hat ihn früher schon einmal abblitzen lassen, mit den lapidaren Worten, das wäre nur Zeitverschwendung, und so will er nicht akzeptieren, dass es mit Keisuke anders läuft.
