Mit seiner Frau betreibt er in ihrem Dorf Hakuryuu das Café Niwa. Er selber ist begeisterter Motorrad- bzw. Rollerfahrer, und werkelt in seiner Freizeit gerne an seiner Maschine herum. Von daher war es für ihn nie Thema seiner Tochter Haruno das Fahren auf einem Roller zu verbieten. Eher im Gegenteil ermutigt er sie dazu noch und erlaubt sogar eine Nachtfahrt mit Cynthia ans Meer. Auch ansonsten zeigt er für seine Tochter vollstes Verständnis und bindet sie nicht allzu sehr ins Tagesgeschäft des Cafés ein.
